Hi! My name is Tendai and I am 13 years old. I live in Malawi, and one of my favourite places is Cape Maclear on Lake Malawi. I want to tell you about my adventure there!
When I first arrived, I could already see the big blue lake stretching so far, it looked like the sea. The sand was soft under my feet, and the water was so clear I could see little fish swimming close to the shore.
The best part was snorkelling. When I put on my mask and looked under the water, I saw hundreds of tiny, colourful fish. They looked like jewels swimming all around me! Lake Malawi is famous for these fish called cichlids, and I felt like I was inside a giant fish tank.
I also walked through the village. People were smiling and waving, children were playing, and some women were washing clothes in the lake. I even saw a very old baobab tree that looked like it had been there forever.
In the afternoon, I tried kayaking. It was a bit hard to balance at first, but it was fun to float out on the water. And then, just before evening, the sky turned orange and pink, and the sun slowly went down behind the hills. It was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.
Cape Maclear is special to me because it shows how beautiful my country is. I hope one day you can come and see it too!
